Monoethylene glycol (MEG) is a clear, viscous, odorless, flammable liquid with the chemical formula C₂H₆O₂. It's also known as ethylene glycol or just glycol. 

MEG has many industrial uses, including:

Antifreeze

A component in antifreeze, coolants, aircraft anti-icers, and deicers 

Solvent

Used in water-based formulations like adhesives, latex paints, and asphalt emulsions 

Raw material

Used in the production of polyester fibers, PET resins, alkyds, and unsaturated polyesters 

Heat transfer fluid

Used in gas compressors, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, process chillers, and ice rinks 

MEG is toxic in high concentrations, so you should: 

Wash your hands thoroughly after handling it

Not eat, drink, or smoke while using it

Call a doctor if you feel unwell after swallowing it

Get medical advice or attention if you feel unwell
